The body is long, flat in the front and slightly cylindrical in the back. The head is flat and the snout is blunt. The eyes are located at the top and the distance between them is wide. The mouth is located at the bottom and is arc-shaped. The gill openings are small and located above and in front of the base of the pectoral fins. The body is light yellow-brown, with 16-20 dark brown horizontal stripes on the sides of the body, and the ventral side is lighter in color. The fins are light in color, without obvious black spots.
